So close.  Giants pitcher Jonathan Sanchez came so close to a perfect game.  It's a wonderful story; a Cinderella story.  Previously demoted to the bullpen for poor performance, the only reason Sanchez pitched yesterday was because Randy Johnson was on the disabled list.  Make the most of your opportunities.  With his dad in the stands, Sanchez threw a no-hitter, striking out 11 Padres batters in the process.  If it wasn't for teammate Juan Uribe's error in the 8th inning, he would have had a perfect game.  Perfect.  So close.

.....and with Lincicome sitting in the dugout, they thought maybe they would be getting a night off, eh? Congrats to Jonathan Sanchez! As a former catcher, I love when a pitcher hits all of his spots and has a game like that. (But, let's not forget the catcher who called the no-hitter, either!)

Another twist to this story is that Bengie Molina was supposed to be the starting catcher but his wife went into labor so he missed the game and the backup catcher(can't recall the name Whitesomething) caught the game instead. Sanchez should request him as his personal catcher from now on.

The error sucks of course, but you never know what would have happened had that error not been commited. They might've changed their pitch selection to the next hitter and given up a hit. Just never know what would've happened from that point forward.

Great story though! Would've been even better if I had grabbed him on my fantasy team, I had Randy Johnson.

Lovin' the header.  Haven't seen it before, but it's great.

Have you seen the Giants Tim Lincecum pitch? I'm surprised he hasn't thrown a perfect game yet.
Also, have you read about Pat Venditte, the Yankees farm-team switch-pitcher?
