You can turn of smilies in your blog.  It's under the Customise Design option.  Perhaps that'll help.

I think you're up to the task.  They can be a bit bulky and awkward to handle at first, but once you get a handle on using them - you're in like flynn =)

I was blinking at first because all I saw was your reply, and I had forgotten what my comment was.  Now I'm chuckling all over again at *winkie-face* because it's so cute.  That's what happens when you read how irritated someone is and they use a really cute word to describe the object of their annoyance.    I just called 'em all smileys until now...
