My good friend, breadcrumbs , notified me the other day about a CD by artist Joann McFatter he was sending my way.

Here’s what he said:

“A couple of lines that really struck me: "What is it that keeps the elders falling on their faces? What is it that keeps the creatures crying, 'Holy, Holy, Holy'?" (From the 2nd track, "Turn on the light.")  And, from the last track: "What are you going to do with a God like this?"

These are wonderful questions.

And what are we going to do with a God like this?  This amazing, powerful, creative, loving God?

Jesus said once, “If you want to be My friends, you must do what I command you.”

Now, if we had a friend at work who told us, “You know, I want to be friends with you, but in order to do that, you’ll have to do whatever I tell you to do,” we would say, “Thanks.  But no thanks.”

Why is our friendship with Jesus dependent upon our doing what He says?

Because we don’t know how to be friends with God.  He has to tell us.  By that, I don’t mean, “Stop drinkin’.  Stop cussin’.”  What I mean is, right out of the gate, fundamentally, “Give up your life.”
