I was reading in Hebrews today.  The famous eleventh chapter, the one about the heroes of faith.  The author says that these folks “acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.”  Then, “For people who speak this way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.”  But…“they desire a better country, a heavenly one.”

Do we, as Western Christians, consider ourselves strangers and exiles on this earth?  If not, why not?  And why don’t we want to be heroes, like these people were?

Re: All I Really Want For Christmas Is To Be An Exile
I'm with you.  I often dont feel like I fit in, and sometimes think, "Is there something wrong with me?"

The answer is always the same - I shouldnt fit in!  This place is not my home - it's more like a play and I'm an actor.  The script writer is God, and I'm trying to follow the script.  My real life is hidden away with Christ, so for now I keep acting how He tells me to.

I'm looking forward to the day when I can quit acting
