I was reading some newly coined words submitted for a Washington Post contest and one struck me.....

Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

I don't know how many times I've come across that sarchasm.   It's a few awkward seconds of confusion.   Have I offended them?  Was it not funny?   Did they even hear what I said?  oh.... they just didn't realize I was only being sarcastic.

I am finding that having a similar sense of humor is a must in a relationship.   maybe it's me?  it could be that my sense of humor is a bit left of center.

A compatable sense of humor is a must. Who wants to be with someone who can't take a joke, who can't tell sarcasm (usually they are either way too smart or way too dumb).

Re: Laugh now.
I know exactly what you mean. Most of my friends and I share the same sarcastic, smartass, right to the point humour.

I get the exact same reaction from some people at work, and even some family members. The "Ohhh, you were just kidding!" look and laugh. Oh well, I think it's ashame more people don't just stop being so narrow minded wit their humour.

N yep, I agree completley! Lexi, and my close friends all give each other a lot of b.s., because we can!
