So I went to my stylist today, Lori, and per-usual she did a fantastic job! I'm glad I followed her when she left the place she used to work with because I don't think anyone else could make me happy. Before I show the before and after pictures, I want to tell you all about how it goes down.

How You Know Your Stylist Kicks Ass

1. They make sure they're doing what you want to be done. They ask you specifically about color and cut and show you pictures of cuts and samples of color to make sure you know what the possibilities are.

2. They make you comfortable (whether it be with magazines, drinks, or chit-chat).

3. They're familiar with current pop-culture so that when you say something like "I like Mandy Moore's new cut", they know what you're talking about.

So Lori listened to everything I said, made suggestions in terms of face-shape and skin tone, supplied me with a Coke and a InTouch magazine and foiled me up as she asked what classes I'm going to be taking in England.

A little boy (like 10 or something) was in the seat next to me getting his hair highlighted and, not that I knew it at the time, was eagerly listening to every word we said. When the time came to go under the dryers with our caps on, we sat next to each other and discussed Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. It was strange, because, I mean, he's a ten year old little boy. But he was nice. And he told me my cut and color looked good on me. Needless to say he was quite the little charmer. I'm pretty sure he had every female in the salon ready to do anything he asked.

Anyway, to the good stuff. MY MAKEOVER! I went from blonde, shoulder-length, curly hair to.... short, semi-straight and brunette (with a hint of red)!!

What do you all think?? Is it London or what? SWEET.

I think you look amazing.

I want to get some highlights, but here they're kinda expensive. But I'm saving up anyway.

Re: The New Me!
Ah, thanks! I was a bit nervous, to be honest, because I've never been anything but blonde so, naturally, I thought I'd look funny and unnatural... but then again I was really wanting for some change.

I think highlights are expensive everywhere I'm lucky I go to the same stylist over and over because then she gives me discounts. That's what you need to do if you're short on cash - make friends with employees because then you get discounts and stuff. It's sweet

Thanks for the advice I'm actually thinking of going to the same place my mom goes to. It isn't that expensive and I kinda know the people who work there.

Hi -- This is my first time at your blog.. but I just wanted to say WOW!!!  You look amazing! I went from frizzy blonde a few years ago to a similar colro and cut and I think it really brings out the face... Good choice.

All that blonde makes you look pale and sickly .. ( LOL )  not YOU per say, but anyone...

Oh, I looked sickly many a day and I agree with you on how it brings the face. Curly hair, unless worn well (which I didn't), tends to overpower one's head. And I don't look good with a fro, lol.

It took time to tame my hair so I didn't look like a monster. Now it only takes a few minutes

Wow!  Your new do is awesome!  It looks perfect with the shape of your face!  I think it is funny that so many girls think that having your hair long is the only way to look sexy to men.  they are soooo wrong.  I went from long to an angled bob and I got WAY more compliments then than I did when my hair was long.  :-)

Re: The New Me!
No kidding! Like suddenly I've gotten super-hot or something and everybody is saying how fantastic I look! It's nice and yet, strange. lol.

I'm glad it fits my face-shape because I have a mixture between oval and heart and so some do's just look plain funny (I got to try on some wigs before getting my haircut). But, yeah, I totally agree with you. lol

Re: The New Me!
Ha ha.  Yeah, I was laughing because Paris Hilton has almost exactly the same face shape as I do (square) and she has gone through hairdos with me, but in reverse order.... hers was long, mine was bobbed, now hers is bobbed, and I'm growing mine out.  I think she really just wants to be me.  LOL

That is so cool that you could try on wigs!  Did they have them at the salon?  That is a great idea.....

Re: The New Me!
That's funny, with Paris Hilton, lol.

Yah! It was awesome, they had about a dozen wigs so that you see what you would look like with certain styles and colors and then they also had a computer so they could take your pic and put it with hundreds of other styles and colors, but I didn't do that one because I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted.

It was the coolest salon I've ever been to.
