Salts are a component of buffers so maybe they add in the other half (weak acid with its correlating salt or weak base and its conjugate salt). This would regulate the pH and therefore runoff may not have an effect on soil salinity etc. Is it effect or affect I never know which one to use.
Listen, I don't hear them saying that they are putting down their perfectly titrated buffered pH balanced salt compound on the road pal, I just hear salt. NaCl or some other variant. I ain't talkin' ions, I be talkin' table salt. All over my roads, making all the soil too high in sodium for the little creatures.
"if you're gonna blow, blow hard or don't blow at all." that has double entendre potential!
It was VERY windy here in the Boston area today. I went for a short exercise walk at lunch, but the wind was so loud, I couldn't even hear if a car was coming at me.
Maybe they don't mention it because its too intellectually difficult for the average citizen to understand.
