Northanger Abbey, eh? <smile> I had a class in Austen and loved every single moment of it. Of course I care.
I do think it capricious of the university to have given you a full day after a night probably known to be hazardous to undergrads...

*sigh* I must say that I'm Jealous that you get to study abroad in London. My parents lived there for a year and a half, but I was here in Md studying, so only got to go visit during the holidays.
I can defiantely understand the feeling of how wonderful it is to go into a real home instead of a small flat and have a home-cooked meal. Since my parents live overseas, I'm sort of studying abroad... well, not really, but similar ideas of separation and dislocation.
If you ever get the hankering for a bit of the countryside not far from the city, you can take the tube to Kew Gardens.. but I'm sure you've already heard about them. In case not, here is the website: http://www.rbgkew.org.uk/
Its a little pricy for a college student budget, but I think totally worth it.
Glad to hear that you did well with the presentation. I love Jane Austin and some of my most relaxing vacation memories involve reading her novels.

Ah, dear Jane. She makes homework a joy.
I'm waiting for the weather to get better before I visit Kew Gardens. They've been on the list from day one because of a Virginia Woolf short story called Kew Gardens, have you read it?
It must be really tough to have your family live overseas. It's tough for a semester, I can't imagine if it was permanent. Still, that must make you really independent in ways I can only imagine.
