In your contrast comparison with GW Bush and W. Churchill you have to remember that Germany was an active and relevent threat to Great Briton and that Germany brought the battle into England. So you have to question if the brute use of force was necesary under Churchill. The extreme aggression of Germany forced such use of unparreal tatics never used before in battle. Now when we think of GW Bush in the war with Iraq, we question the justification of a preemtive attack based upon unreliable information sources. When a nation foregoes diplomacy and becomes the aggressor under the guise of democracy I think there is more a comparison of Hitler and GW Bush then of Churchill and GW Bush that needs to be made.
Tony Blair sent troops to Iraq because he trusted the White House administration. That action could mean his demise in the elections.
War is truely a sad situation, nobody really wins. The ramifications of war can be just as bad as the action it's self. I often question what will be said of all of this in 20 to 30 years from now.
On a side note, Did your father find many books cited to him? It must be exciting having you work noted in a diffrent country.
Thanks for writing. I agree that Germany and Iraq aren't really analagous, but war is so devastating, and there was something about CHurchill's eagerness to fight that frightened me and reminded me of the current administration.
I think my dad found one or two books that cited him.I don't really know as I was buried in the fiction section at the time. I think he was pleased, at least I hope he was, indeed it must be cool to be cited in a different country.

Coincidently, I have a friend who shares your last name, who visits Churchill's War Room whenever he's in the UK (two or three times a year).
