The knife hits the cutting board.

I watch ripe, juicy circles of red fall sideways off the knife.

I think of Mark.

"I want to run naked through a wheat field under a harvest moon with you."

These words are the embodiment of everything I believe love to be.

I move on to cucumbers.

I watch as ovals of pale green hit the cutting board.

The green is being held hostage by a more powerful, deeper green. Holding the light green within the confines of its oval shape.

"I want to run naked through a wheat field with you"

I look towards the window. The pink morning glow is being fazed out by a gloomier sky.

"I love you"

The clouds move in slowly. They look as though they have been fluffed recently. They seem to have tried to look their best for me today.

"Marry me"

The door chimes. A man requests permission to drink his morning latte. It takes me a few seconds to realize that without me, there will be no latte.

"I knew someday I'd find you"

I knew someday I'd find you too. I just didn't know I wouldn't have you forever.

I go back to the cucumber.
