The ever lovely and talented Erinbear just sent me an email. It was along the lines of "You know you grew up in the 80's or 90's if"

I suddenly feel less than cool.

But, as always, there is a catch. I walk around and watch millions of little Britney Spears worshipping, style stealing teeny boppers, and I have to say I feel a little relieved.

Okay, so I wore neon socks with high top sneakers and I still know the words to Bon Jovi's "you give love a bad name"

But my mother still wears shoulder pads (not as in 'started again when they came back into style briefly' but as in 'never stopped) and she still teases her hair.

I on the other hand, packed away my neon clothes many years ago and have even admitted Doogie Howser was not the hottest thing ever and Will Smith looks so much better now than he ever did on Fresh Prince. (and to those of you who are around my age, you know how hot you used to think he was on that show)

I have also realized that the youth of the new millennium have very little to call their own. They are stealing styles from all the different decades, most of their music is remakes of older songs or dangerously similar, and even their slang is recycled.

My mother may still be wearing shoulder pads, and I may have gone many years waering neon spandex, but no one can say we were unoriginal.

OMG!!! We picked the same theme. I will probably change mine, but I was really drawn to this one. It was my second choice, after this black & white one was too big.

As long as you don't descend to the level of wearing anything polyester you're doing okay. Yes, 80's hairbands(Ratt, Cinderella etc), w/e became of them?

I have to admit, I still wear them from time to time. (although strictly to keep by hair out of my face, I swear!)
