for those of us not up on the slang...a packie is a dildo that is soft and resembles a flaccid penis for the purposes of creating a realistic bulge or "package" for the transman. many drag kings and gender performers also "pack", but usually larger and more dramatic.
some guys, if they don't have money will use other methods. i was personally a fan of the "Dress Socks" method. since i an biased, i would have to say that i became quite a pro at rolling a pair of thin dress socks appropriately to create a cohesive bulge, though not a detectable phallic shape.
i tried the "gel-condom" method. this is when a condom is filled with hairgel and then sealed shut and wrapped inside another condom. one then uses the long tubular shape to create a realistic phallus, but no scrotal sac. this can get messy if your condoms decide to not get along in your pants...lol.
some guys don't feel it necessary to pack. if not, kudos to you!
anyway, i purchased my first "phallus-imitatus" the other day and it came in the mail.

now aside from home-made packies...the regular old packies you can purchase do come in varieties. there are 3 major varieties:
1. soft pack
2. hard pack
3. pack n pee
1. soft packs are like the packy i've been discussing. they are soft and made of a cyberskin or like material...squishy. they are for when you want to make an impression, but not a gigantic bulge that appears like an erection. they are not meant for penetration as they are totally soft (hence the name...durh) and can be worn against the body in a harness or directly in the underwear or a jockstrap.
2. hard packs are also known as "pack n play"s. they are used when one wants to create a slightly aroused look in the bulge. they are also meant for penetration, so they are worn with a harness. so these have a one-up on the soft pack...the mood won't be interrupted to switch out your "little men" so that you can continue the "Festivities".
3. pack n pees are a hard-ish pack and they contain a special urethral tube that when placed against the urethra can create a realistic and passing phallus for the purpose of urination. aka...a fake penis you can really pee through! this is my ultimate goal, as you can tell by my excitement. these are worn with harnesses and not meant for penetration as they can still hold urine after use.
so that's the first dip into the world of packies. and now, i end this....like i said....for now.
