Well, I really don't want to say I'm 'blind' since there are a lot of people out there who really are blind, and I've heard that they are going through the same eyestrain and visual headaches and such that I'm going through. Still, nearsighted doesn't quite convey how this feels... the dizziness, the nausea, the constant headache, the general feeling that the world's slipping by, and the frustration of being, at least temporarily, handicapped. In other words, the next time that someone in a wheelchair is snotty to you, let it go, and if he or she isn't snotty, that is really really saying something for the character of the person.

Aside from that, today wasn't too bad ecept for the disoriented drive to the mall in Warwick (don't worry... I wasn't driving) followed by a half hour wait in LENSCRAFTERS for the store to open, followed by choosing frames, getting measured, and finding out from the nice LENSCRAFTERS lady: "Sorry, sir... you're frigging BLIND AS A BATT!!! We have to special order your lenses from the Jet Propulsion labs. If the new telescopic satellite hasn't gone up yet, we'll be able to get you a pair in SEVEN TO TEN DAYS!!! My heart sank when she said that, and of course, since I'm still blind as hell, I couldn't find the damn thing anywhere.

I finally made it to work around 2.30 and stayed there till almost 7.30... I'd let some things get away from me what with everything else going on, and now I'm playing catch-up... frantically trying to catch up, ignoring the little dwarf in my head banging away under my eyeballs, and getting nose-prints all over my monitor like a basset hound or something. And of course, what should be in the mail box when I get home? Books. Like I can read without wanting to gouge out my useless bits of jelly from my skull and laugh! laugh!! laugh!!!

So yeah, I think I'm doing okay. Might try to see if they have cheap lenses at WAL-MART or somthing.

I'm sorry. I'm still laughing from the visuals! I do hope you get your glasses soon.
