I'm just procrastinating a little longer before beginning my 2-page (single spaced) essay for my class, which is due Tuesday night, but which I am determined to finish today.  This afternoon, if possible, so I can go for my 3-mile walk and then watch TV tonight with a clear conscience.

Bit of advice: if a doc prescribes the antibiotic Cipro, you might want to ask if there's something else that would do the job.  I took Cipro for 5 days 3 weeks ago, and let's just say that some side effects are continuing and that additional visits to the doc have been necessary.  Other side effects which have thankfully since disappeared are dizziness, lethargy, insomnia, and lack of appetite.  I had taken Cipro many years ago and definitely do not remember anything like these effects.  I shall never take it again, of course.

There shall be rejoicing in the streets (at least in my street) when this cataloging/classification class is over.  It comes under the category of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...but I could SO have done without this class.  Ok, Snuggs, I'm whining again, but you said I could if it would help! And I think it does.

Today was my first major yard sale foray this spring, and I made a pretty good haul! Here's what I got:  3 Ralph Lauren oxford cloth shirts (in excellent condition with dry cleaner tags still attached) for $1 each; a very nice soft black leather purse for $2; Gloria Vanderbilt pale pink jeans for 50 cents (which I'm going to let my mother cut off for capris); a Jones New York aqua cardigan for $1; 2 Zipfer beer stoneware mugs from Germany for 50 cents each (for my coffee, of course); a purple 100% cashmere scarf made in England, new and never worn - for $1; and a huge plastic tub of books for $20 - including 5 hardback Harry Potter books that look new, lots of paperback school required reading books, etc. - I should be able to trade them at the used book store for at least double that or maybe more.  So I'm well pleased!

Re: Yard sales, procrastinating, and Cipro
whine away, honey!  you've got the (blog) floor!!!  and you just whine as long as you want 'til you feel better.  ((((((((((bw))))))))))

i am *very* envious (in a loving sistah-sort of way) of all your cool bargains today....you racked up!  that purple scarf sounds beautimous....

you can whip that paper out in no time...look at the length of our blogs and some of our replies, which...with the exception of some googlin' and wikipedia'ing, is right off the cuff.  pffffft.  you *are* procrastinating, because it shouldn't take you more than 90 minutes to write that paper.  i'm calling your bluff.  but you can still whine about it.  *g*

Re: Yard sales, procrastinating, and Cipro
I too am quite pleased with the scarf. I wear scarves all the time in the winter - my neck (now little and skinny) seems to stay cold - and I have several, all brightly colored!  and this one is long enough to wrap around a couple of times with long tails left over. However, I think I'm even more pleased with the Ralph Lauren shirts. They are in such good shape and I know they were probably $40 each new!! It promises to be a good season for yard sales with an omen such as today's bargains. *nods*

This paper is a bit more challenging than I'd first thought - nevertheless, am making progress.

Why is it that every garage sale I have ever attended has only junky kitchen tschotkes and spit-up stained baby clothes and toys?  Your finds sound like real treasures!

Re: Yard sales, procrastinating, and Cipro
Because I don't go to all of the ones that are in the newspaper, not even in my area.  I know where the good stuff is (as a rule), though you never can tell - one of my greatest eBay triumphs came from a sort of dumpy looking house. Today there was a community sale in a very nice subdivision, and even though not that many people participated (because it was cool, gray, overcast, and threatening rain), the ones who did had good stuff.  There was tons of really nice baby stuff.  There was one place that had a big plastic tub full of the nicest little girl stuff, the best brands, a couple of them new with tags - 50 cents each piece. Some of it did have some stains, like from formula, but the outfits themselves were so very nice that for sleepers for myself, I could have overlooked that - especially for 50 cents a piece.  I get all my baby gifts from yard sales. There's just too much available with tags still attached to ever pay retail!  There was everything you could possibly want for a baby, strollers, carriers, cribs, etc. all in great condition.
And I didn't even get out really early today. If I'm really serious, I'm out by 7:15. One lady told me today that she sold half a garage full of stuff between 7:30 and 8.
I also like church rummage sales because although there can be a lot of trash there, when you find something good, it'll be really cheap.
