THERES the Matt we are used to! Welcome home.
There are few better tests of character than dragging yourself up off the ground, ready to fight again.
From what I've read you have done fairly well.
Hellz yeahz. The addition of z at the end means it is extra cool.
It's good to hear you are a quick healer.
I think your wife has a good point. The publishing scene is a perfect example of the Culture Industry.
She also has a point about the short stories. You really don't know what your first foot in the door of publication is going to be, so it is important to try every strategy you can.
I'd also recommend, if you haven't yet, to pick up some books on writing by well known authors. Don't take it the wrong way. I don't think you need advice writing. I think it isn't the "how to" of the books that you'd find the most informative. I know that I like to read about how writers approach their craft, about their experiences with the world of authorship. I don't think you can ever read too much about what it is like to be an author.
It is inspiring to read about the experiences of already successful authors. I've read rave reviews for On Writing by Stephen King, even by people who don't necessarily like or read his books. Zen and the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury is something I'm probably going to buy soon, because I loved "Something Wicked This Way Comes".
I've read both of Orson Scott Card's books on writings.... Characters and Viewpoint, and How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy. I can tell you they contain a lot of interesting stories about how he writes, and what it is like to be in his world.
This blog is going to make an interesting publication some day. haha

Those are some damn good suggestionz. It doesn't actually work like that, does it? Well thankz for the great comment anyway.
you most likley know this but in AP english we are are learning about poetry and Dr. Seuss almost burned his first book because so many people rejected him.
yep and it seems even he has some parts of a shady past as well. It seems as if all poets are messed up.
