I just got back to the dorm not too long ago.

I saw that there are some major plumbing issues, apparently, since there's a whole bunch of dirt that's been dug up around some pipes.  I entered my room and heard water running in the bathroom, but I didn't seem my suitemate's light on and the bathroom was dark.  The sink was running full blast.

I went down to the office to find out what's going on.  I get down there and tell him what I discovered when I got back.  He then asks me "You turned on the water in your sink and came down here to tell me about it?"  If I hadn't been so shocked at how utterly stupid that statement is I would have laughed hysterically.  I restated what I had previously said and tried to find out what exactly is going on with the plumbing.  Go figure I didn't.

I just wanted to offer the guy a few of my brain cells to rub together.  It's people like him that make me feel insanely intelligent.  It's the only way that I can justify keeping people that dense around.

Re: Hampster's out to lunch
I guess I'm stupid too -- the water was running even though the faucets were in the "off" position?

Or maybe someone had been doing work inside your bathroom and neglected to turn the faucet off when they were done?

Or since they were doing work on the plumbing outside, maybe your place was without water for awhile and your suitemate accidentally left the faucet in the on position before heading out?

In any event, they should have given you information when you asked what was going on.
