Hmm, what about Twitter? Always good for talking to your friends (or to the air) when no one is around to listen. 
I've never heard of that....I'll check it out.
Twitter can seem kind of boring until you actually start using it...then it can get kind of addictive watching what people are doing. 
Anyway, it's free, so why not? You could also get a free Flickr account if you're into photos...that's fun for joining different groups and things. (If you want to look for me on either, I have the same user names there that I use here.)
