Beau Ned has a few thawts for you this morning.
I am uncomfortable with my guvmint because they are spending $12 billion per month to bring democracy to a country who plainly doesn't want it while telling us Americans that they can't afford to repay us the money they forced us to save in the form of Social Security.
The story is that we baby boomers are all arriving on the scene at the same time and that we will be taking out more than the current workers are putting in. This makes sense but I submit that the shortfall is probably a damn sight less than $12 billion per month.
How much did the Iraqis pay in to Social Security? Why are they getting the money instead of us?
Maybe the real reason we are at war has not been explained at all. Maybe we are at war so that we can create business for the manufacturers of weapons. The public does not complain about war spending because we fear that doing so would be unpatriotic. This sad fact makes it possible to transfer enormous quantities of tax money into the hands of favored corporations. And we've all heard stories of how much the guvmint is overcharged for trivial military procurements like hammers and toilet seats. Imagine how much we could be overcharged for a tank or a fighter plane.
If George W. Bush is not the most hated person on the planet, who is?
