Sarah "Can't Take The Heat" Palin is resigning her governorship before the end of her elected term.

Idiot republicans gleefully report this is so she can focus on her run for President (of the USA? puh- leeze!)

in 2012.

Just what we need, a whiner AND a quitter.

Good riddance.

Ok, I'm a bit naive when it comes to politics, but if you're planning to run for President, doesn't resigning from your current office before your end of elected term make you look bad?

I actually read that she's intending to step out of politics for good.

the conservative spin will be fun as they point out that Obama resigned from his Senate seat.

But two points of order,

1) he resigned when he had already been ELECTED President, NOT 3 years before he even entered the race

and 2) you can't equate resigning from a seat as a public delegate in the Senate to walking away from the leadership role OF THE NATION'S LARGEST STATE (sorry, I have to put that in bold since they boldly bragged for months that she was the governor of the largest state even if we know, in this case, size really doesn't matter, LOL!)

LMAO!!!  Indeed, size doesn't matter in this case!  On the news programs they're saying they have "no idea" why she resigned and it was "so puzzling"....I had to look at Cokie Roberts and just shake my head.  Is she really that blind?  Now online news is saying she's for sure going to run for President.  So....now we're going to have to listen to Palin supporters, Republicans, conservatives, etc. speculate for the next 3 years until there's actual confirmation on anything.  But, if it's because she wants out of politics....I have to wonder - if she couldn't handle "the largest state in the nation", she sure as hell couldn't handle running the country!

Re: LOL! This Is NOT An Independence Day Joke !
sorry I didn't get back to your email - I'm doing good - back to where I was 2 weeks ago with a slight shortness of breath (breathing is fine, its getting that last 15% of a DEEP breath that is uncomfortable - like I've been swimming) but nothing that is disabling.  I've got a checkup in 6 weeks so will wait and let my doc do a couple of allergy tests and listen to the lungs.

hopin' to catch some of St Louis' fireworks tonite through the grandstands of NASCARs Gateway International that blocks the old view of the skyline!

No problem!  Just glad to know you are ok.  I get weird about friends when they are not well.  (left over from my ex....he was sick all the time and NEVER went to the doctor)  I work for a medical facility, so you know that I believe in the value of medicine.  Not overdoing it mind you, but when you know you should go, you go.

Got your email...will reply later today.  Sent you a 4th of July text, then realized with the time difference, it's a 5th of July text for you...lol.  Oh well, better late than never right?

I thought of you while mowing yesterday!  Felt like you hit me with your big orange truck!

Ye gods, what a bunch of cynics and know-it-alls.  Palin has enjoyed huge positive ratings from Alaskans, something like 80%, since getting elected, and some of you can't get your heads around that.  I don't live in Alaska, but for whatever reason, those who do think she's the best thing since sliced bread.  But I guess you know better than they.  She's a regular Mom, has taken on special interests, defeated not only her political opposites but her political soul mates, too.  She knows what she believes and doesn't suffer fools gladly.  Plus, she's still on her first marriage, doesn't cheat on her spouse, hasn't gotten caught with cash in her freezer, didn't abort an "inconvenient" baby so she could have an easier life, doesn't belong to social clubs that empower only her demographic, and isn't too bad on the eyes.  All in all, not a bad package.

Re: LOL! This Is NOT An Independence Day Joke !
well, we cynics see her as dumb as a rock, egotistical to the point that she is so thin-skinned she can't take any criticism, unable to do her job, UNWILLING to do her job (thus, basically, a LIAR to the people of her state), and as for polling her popularity, you need to catch up :

The new Hayes Research polls ( hays research dot com) show the governor at 54% combined approval and 41.6% combined disapproval.

an editorial continues : "30% of her former fans now boo her. Love can be fickle.

Alaskans are starting to get it. Palin's job approval numbers have dropped consistently since she came back from the Hate Talk Express tour. Neglect doesn't play well here."

If she wants to survive in politics, she has to get the hell away from Karl Rove - just because he coached another failed big state governor, doesn't mean she has the nads to survive political warfare - hell, she just proved she can't even survive normal political interplay.  I see NO way she can go into National politics after crash and burning as governor and abandoning her own ship of state - shameless.bb.

If she had stayed in office and had to defend against every arrow her detractors shot, you'd likely be calling for her to resign.  So she does, and you're still not pleased.  There's no winning with some people.  That's fine; it's politics as usual.  I didn't like Clinton.  Sue me.  Just because she didn't answer Katie's question about which papers she reads, or if she agreed with the "Bush Doctrine", I guess that makes her "stupid."  All I know is, I'd rather have someone in office with nothing to hide, even if they didn't have all the answers, than one I couldn't even trust in my home who thought they did.  With so many politicians on both sides of the aisle either on the take, or boinking their staff, or not paying taxes, or driving drunk, or in bed with contractors, I think it's refreshing to have someone in the spotlight who is forthright and doesn't put on airs.  Experience can be gained. Integrity, once lost, can't be regained.

Re: LOL! This Is NOT An Independence Day Joke !
It's not my place to call for her to resign, she is the cancer of Alaskan voters, not me.

It is not YOUR place to decide what I would do, either.

You seem to judge on your own that her faults as recognized by the majority of us, are not faults.  Or they are worth ignoring because according to your inside knowlege she is not screwing staff or dodging taxes - personally, I'll wait til investigations are done before I judge her as governor, but what she has done is to LIE to her constiutuents and renege on her deal to serve her term as elected.  After this debacle of her governorship and her ridiculous choice by McCain, she has no integrity except, apparently, in the minds of the minority of people like yourself.

You had better take a breath before continuing to paint her as a pristine, almost saintly politician - maybe you should start to follow the MSNBC investigation in which : "David Shuster was able to confirm a criminal fraud investigation wherein she's alleged to have steered lucrative contracts to SBS in a quid pro quo."

This is current, this is ongoing, this is IN ADDITION to Trooper Gate, an ethics investigation by her own State election board that found her guilty of violating state ethics laws.

Don't DARE come to my page and tell me how I will act, when you don't even have your facts straight.

These are exactly the sort of simplistic assessments her PR is counting on.
