Lately I've been having blog entries and articles shoved in my face about people that were hopelessy addicted to the MMORPG World of Warcraft. These people spout off the reason that this GAME has ruined their lives. I can't believe how lost these people are, even after they terminate their accounts.

First of all, they like to tell everyone that this game is an addiction, and it can be an addiction, for those that want to be addicted to something. What irks me most about these articles is the fact that these people make themselves out to be victims to a drug, like they didn't sign up for this.

They make it sound as though someone forced them to pay 15 dollars a month, someone forced them to type in their account numbers and FORCED them to log on play for all the silly hours that they spent on it. "It's not my fault, it's Blizzard's fault for making it so addictive..."

Wake up you goons, YOU were the ones that played for as long as you did. How can you blame your addiction problems on a game that you willingly subscribed to? You aren't a better person for quitting, you're the SAME person, you just don't have an account with Blizzard anymore. You just don't have the false sense of security that you got from you're guild telling you that you were awesome.

To set the record straight, i DO have an account on WoW. I play when I want to play, and i don't let this game dictate how I run my life. Would anyone like to know why?

WoW is a GAME.

Give yourself a minute now, kids. Think about that word for a minute.

I'll type it again. GAME. This isn't a "second reality" Its a GAME.

I asked a kid the other day, Level 53 Tauren Priest what he would do if someone were to just randomly wipe his character and he had to start all over again. He said "i would probably hurt someone" Amount of time played? "43 days 17 hours".

I can't tell you how irritating it is to me, to hear one of my guild members ask me "Why didn't you come to the run? i thought you said you were interested?"

"i was doing something else, i didn't feel like playing"

"you said you would do it, so you had a commitment and you broke it. i can't believe you lied"

"....dude...its a game. chill"

*guild member spazzes*

Bottom line guys...if you're going to quit to "gain control of your life" or whatever, PLEASE don't blame your addiction on anything other than YOU. I know lying to yourself will make you feel better for the moment, but I'm sure its going to bite you in the ass someday. Try to grow up a little. You aren't a better person for quitting, you're just someone thats looking for something NEW to get addicted to. You'll deny that you have a problem, just like you did for this game. You'll repeat until you start looking INSIDE to fix things, and not outside.

Peace out.
