In the foolhardiest of endeavors, a Chicago blogger is living her life in accordance with the gospel of Oprah for an entire year. In essence, she watches every episode of Oprah and reads every issue of O Magazine, then carries out anything that Oprah mandates (reading a certain book, wearing a certain outfit to flatter her body type, creating something called a "vision chart," etc.) She devotes about 40 hours a week to carrying out Oprah's "assignments," and hopes to write a book about the experience.

The best/most terrifying quote: "It takes a huge amount of pressure off to be handed a spiritual path."

Re: the ultimate sacrifice
Scary, isn't it? It isn't really clear if she's making fun of the cult of Oprah or if she's really into it.

I feel sort of bad for constantly slagging Oprah, but she really does drive me totally insane.

Re: the ultimate sacrifice
I'm with ya on that. Hearing her name makes me cringe. I cannot stand her and this cult is a little extreme, but I'm sure she is loving every moment.

I have liked Oprah for along time, but started learning more about her, and find that I have a lot less respect for her.

I know this is extraordinarily weird and has absolutely nothing to do with your blog post, but I'm pretty sure that I saw your wedding picture in the Acadia Bulletin. CRAZY.

Re: the ultimate sacrifice
You did! At least, I'm assuming you did, because our photo was in the Bulletin, and I'm guessing you're referring to the same one. Spooky! How are things on campus? I'm guessing classes have started already?

Re: the ultimate sacrifice
Campus is good! Classes hadn't started when I posted that message - I was in early to help out with frosh week - but classes are indeed in full swing now. So is the load of homework.
