Well the 4x400m is no different here as the Nigerians men and women teams underachived once again.

The men's team - Former Olympics silver and bronze medallists ended up fifth, having being second with about 90 metres to go.

Good news for Africa, South Africa men picked the silver medal behind an impressive Australian team but the SA women has been disqualified along with England for standing in a wrong lane to receive the baton.

Wait a minute, the Nigerian women have been elevated to the bronze medal position, despite having the worst performance by a Nigerian relay team in a long time.

Now, where does Africa go from here!

I was a little surprised that the Nigerian relay team did'nt do better, as they have a habit of doing so well......

Well such is the depletion now as the best talents had all fled abroad. You would be shocked to know the number of Nigerian born athletes who compete for other nationalities now. Infact, UK won 2 Gold medals from Nigerian-born athletes.

And then, the hydra headed problem of late preparations! lol

27 years ago I jumped against Milt Ottey in the High Jump. He whooped me good and went on to holding the world record. Your blog sure brings back some great memories. To this day, Track and Field is the only sport I will watch with interest.
