(This is my response to the PoetryChallenge topic "balloon.")

He bought me a big red balloon

And 'round my wrist it was tied.

He said that it was his heart

All filled with love inside.

I kissed him and told him thanks;

The thought I'd forever store.

Then I slipped it off my hand

And we watched it soar and soar.

We like to look back and dream

Of our symbol of love out there,

Drifting along on a breeze,

Spreading this love we share.

You cannot confine your love

Or keep it locked up in a box.

If you want to know if it's true,

Set it free; remove all the locks.

For love cannot grow in a vacuum.

Like all living things, it must breathe.

When you try to possess your lover,

He will wither and die, or just leave.

If your love is healthy and pure

Don't restrain the being that holds it;

For the freedom you give your love

Is the nourishment that molds it.

Wonderful poem.  I spent a long time visiting here...longer than I intended... but it was well worth the late lunch.

Oh, thank you.  I liked it, too; it's fast becoming one of my favorites.  Hope that doesn't sound conceited.  It's just that some things come out better than others, and this one I really like.  Glad you did, too.  I see it made it up to the Top Blog list, also.  Don't pay a lot of attention to that, but I saw it there and it was kind of exciting.

okay - not to sound weird but what I liked best about the poem was the pictures and colors that came to my mind as I read it.  It really came alive in my mind.  Great job and Yea for being a top blog entry!

And you taking the time to say these things is one of the greatest perks here at Mindsay.  That's so rewarding to me, to know that something I wrote brought "visions" to a reader's mind.  Thank you for sharing that.
