What an insane time to be a Boston sports fan. The RedSox win the World Series, the Patriots are totally dominant at 8-0, Boston College is #2 in college football, and the Celtics look to once again be competitive this year. Admittedly, the only team I care much about in that mix is the Pats (though, I always root for the Sox against the Yankees), but I can't recall a time in recent memory when one city was so dominant in so many sports. I guess UF holding both the college football and basketball titles at the same time is the biggest thing that comes close ...

What is really funny about it (for me) is to think back to when I moved to Boston, about 12 years ago. Back then, ALL the Boston teams stank and it was news if they won anything. The idea of the Red Sox even playing in the World Series was a joke.

Actually, we Minnesotans once had nearly the same type of dominant local sports scene. It was back, I think, over 1991 and 1992. The Twins had won the World Series, the Vikings lost the NFC Championship game late and the North Stars were in the Stanley Cup. Nevermind the Timberwolves, basketball didn't count yet. (And you're welcome for KG, enjoy him.) I don't remember how our college teams were at the time.
