We started dating mid November but we've only been "official" since the 13th of this month.

The funny thing is my mom doesn't hate gay guys so much, she hates lesbians more. I know I missed out on a a lot, but who did you vote for? Or are you not into politics? I've developed an unhealthy obsession of watching msnbc lately :-p

It was good, I got all A's except for one stupid(1 credit mandatory class) class that I got an A-! So it dropped my GPA to 3.985 But that was at the regional campus and I applied to the main school in the city and they accepted me!

My dad is closer to the 'it's a disease' level, and my mom doesn't care so much but still thinks you can pick a gay out on the street or whatever.

I voted for third party(green party) because they were more in line with my (very)liberal opinions. But I am happy Obama won, I think he'll be great..although I don't think he is 'liberal' as people say..but I guess compared to McCain or Bush he is.

lol I am very much into politics..I decided on a double major..one in business and the other in political science because I want to get a masters in international relations and get a job in human rights. I have gotten very interested in (mostly international) politics/human rights this year..it's like I found my 'passion' or something.

Yeah I don't think Obama is as liberal as people say he is either. However the other day he stated that he was a "fierce" advocate for gay and lesbian rights after that whole debacle over Rick Warren speaking at his inauguration. I hope he actually sticks to that, and its not just bullshit.

I'm majoring in psychology, but I kind of want to get a job in human rights too. Like work for the HRC or something like that.  I don't want to wait around for others to fight for my rights, and especially after Prop 8 and Amendment 2 passing, I really want to get on the ball for fighting for equal treatment. I'd like to focus on gay, single parent, and minority adoption kinda.

I want to save the world in a way, I just don't know how. Any particular human right you're fired up over?

Yeah about his position on gay rights(which is the one I am fired up over..) I believe he(and hilary) said in the primary that they were for unions but nor marriage..and it's probable that he hasn't changed position(unless I seriously missed something). I kind of get annoyed how everyone says he is like the savior for gay rights..he doesn't want equal rights..he wants civil unions..which a commission in NJ found that unions are not an equal equivilient.

Don't get me wrong, he is a huge step forward but will he actually pass a federal union law? I don't see it happening(hope it does though!)..the courts in the northeast and the west will eventually allow marriage because the people won't vote for it..it seems the only way for equal rights for now...sadly.

haha I didn't mean to go into a whole big thing, but it's all ridiculous in my opinion. I mean people are able to be LEGALLY KILLED for being gay in several countries..and nobody seems to give a damn about it.

Did you hear/read about the UN resolution saying that homosexuality should not be illegal..and the US didn't sign it? Despite it being legal here? Nicaragua signed it and they just decriminalized homosexuality recently!

I feel the same way. I think Kucinich was the only one in favor of gay marriage. He was also a vegan with a hot trophy wife, which I thought was awesome!

And I don't care if you rant and rave. Its nice to see someone who is not homosexual (to my knowledge that is) who cares equally about it. The day after the election we were talking about it in my Modern Literature class, and my teacher asked me how I felt about everything. I said my happiness for Obama winning was overshadowed by Amendment 2 passing, and that I cried that day. A douchebag next to me stated right after, and he said this LAUGHING "haha I don't care about that because it doesn't effect me"

yep, and he is from Ohio of all places. The green party is for it but of course this election was so hyped up and nobody paid attention to third parties. One person said in an article and they wouldn't wast their vote. I am all for a multi-party system so that gets me frustrated too.

Yeah the election day was not the greatest..I was sad that prop 8 passed..I mean if California population won't vote for gay rights which state will? Maybe new england but who knows. And meanwhile Norway makes gender-neutral marriage laws.

yeah people hate anything that is socially european(but love the tourism things there). I don't get it..quality of life survey leaders? ALWAYS european. Not that they are socialists governments though, but some socialist characteristics work very well I believe.

Not to mention the absolutely ridiculous cost of college here, it really makes me despise this country's way of running things. Nobody wants higher taxes so we can get REAL services..so we are stuck with people not being able to afford education or health care..capitalism!

EXACTLY. I hate this system so much. I want to study abroad/internship abroad so badly but can only afford 1 summer semester abroad. I know that I am lucky to be able to do that, but I mean I get good grades and I WANT to do these things..but because I wasn't a perfect student in high school I am out of luck. I want to go on to graduate school but there will be no money left, so I am hoping I can get a scholarship or something for that..but I am definitely not getting my masters in the US.
