. .

There are nine historic lighthouses along Oregon’s coast and slowly we have been visiting each one and exploring the surrounding coast. Yesterday we went to Yaquina head and Yaquina Bay, near Newport ( where the aquarium is located) and had a splendid day. Low tide let us scramble all over the rocks and see sculpins, urchins, stars, anemones, lots of kelp, murres, puffins and tons of playful harbor seals. We brought lunch with us and stretched out on the warm basalt cobbles the wash up at the beach. It was a cloudless day, neither of us grumped at the other and it was great to get home before dark ( the sky is still light up here after 10) and play with the Abster before bed.

Re: To the lighthouse
Same with Elizabeth.  She loves the beach and always wants to live within driving distance of it.  We usually go to Crane Beach in Ipswich, Mass.  I like the beach too, though I'd prefer that we try different day trips instead of always going to the same place.

oh I know what you mean. when we lived near the gorgeous panhandle beaches we always thought about going somewhere else and always ended up at seaside and ate dinner at Cafe 30A. it's hard to mess with heaven.

Re: To the lighthouse
Crane Beach is the nicest beach we've been to, hence the habit of going there a lot.  But I feel like I don't have much of a say in it -- why can't it ever be up to me where we go on our day trip?

Re: To the lighthouse
and why is E so unmovable?  I know some people who live on the river at Ipswich. do you live there too?

Re: To the lighthouse
She is who she is, but I love her a lot and I know I tend to mention my pet peeves more than the things I'm thankful for.  We live in Needham, so it's about a 90 minute trip to Ipswich.
