Having assiduously avoided Tolkien's Hobbits, Harry Potter, all Star Wars after the first episode and any film with Bruce Willis other than sixth sense, I am now getting pressure from my husband to check out the simpsons. I am resisting heartily. I can have low brow tastes as juicy as anyone. I confess I watched half of a Jerry Springer once and Oprah and I sorta liked the early Girls Behaving Badly.... but when fans call the simpsons the best television  show of the twentieth century I want to gag. What about Seinfeld? Deadwood? Six Feet Under, Sex and the City? or even vintage I love Lucy?  let's get real. besides I abhore animation.
