yesterday we discovered an amazing painter who teaches at Willamette University: Michael Dailey.... they are color field influenced by Rothko and Frankenthaler and nothing on line can capture the layers of luminosity he creates. I can't put his work here as it violates his rights..... but ya gotta see this stuff:
http://www.laurarusso.com/artists/dailey_m.html we also went to the Oregon Gardens and Silverton- both very close by gems southeast of Portland. One a splendid botanic garden and a nearby Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian house ( only one in Oregon) and the town of Silverton ( timber money once upon a time ) is like a little Ashland but much closer to home. We were home by $ pm for a bath, drinks on the north patio under our new HUGE umbrella - Overstock dot com, thank you) and two games of Quiddler - aha I won both)
My current drink of choice is Lemon juice, simple syrup, orange tequila and sparkling water. Yum.
Then we had chicken fajitas cooked on the grill . Paradise beckons !!!
