Can it get better than this? Good health, glowing skin, the sun is shining, I ama blonde newly become a redhead, the tree is up and there were no hassles. Stollens are baked and wrapped and now Nat King Cole is singing the Christmas song. Ok so I am jewish but who wouldn’t invite in a time where the message is Peace on Earth Good will towards man. Today brings me two days closer to jim’s arrival- finally and even though I will have to give up sleeping in the middle of the bed, how nice to have a partner to turn to and say” Come, look there is a hawk on the roof” or” did you hear that? It’s the coyotes talking again.” And we have ballet tickets= OMG now Bing Crosby is crooning White Christmas. Which it is in Colorado. I recall a Christmas when luckily after I had done food shopping for a feast the entire city got snowed in and so Jesse cross country skied to the house and we ate by firelight. Or creating our own ski trail through Montclair from the park over the dairy and by the end of the week I had mastered going up hill without side stepping. And that horrible Christmas week when I had to have emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. Even that fades in time. And the futiue- we hope- holds many winters with cold weather and loving friends – new and old – and most importantly all of us together. AND if I can find a 2 person hot tub cheap, jim agreed I could buy it. Yippeeee… now Johnny Mathis is singing Sleigh Ride. What a sucker I am for all that is sentimental- mistletoe and decorating cookies, home made cards and a snuggle by a crackling fire. Isn’t it ironic that it takes a Jewish person to enjoy the birth of a jewish baby named jesus and eliminate the commercialism, the hype, the pressure and just consider the genuine message of the time. Shalom.
and Happy Chanukah and Winter Solstice, I love winter and the dark. and now Luciano Paverotti is singing Oh Holy Night. in Latin... yowzers !!
