You have to find the balance between accepting yourself for who you are and being unhappy enough with your currant weight that you will do something about it.  Ask yourself, Do I want to eat this ice cream more than I want to loose one pound.  I shared a candy bar with my hubby tonight, equal haves, we split 230 calories.  Know how many extra calories your eating when you snack, one source suggested that you can figure 25 calories per bite of your child's meal that you finish, or bites that you have while cooking or cleaning up. Count them.  Know what your putting in your mouth.  Ask yourself, How badly to I want to change my currant situation?  What am I willing to give up now, that I wasn't willing to give up before?  What is going to motivate me?

I work in a tourist town, Wisconsin Dells.  In the shop next to the one where I work, there are all kinds of temptations.  It's called " The Cream Puff Company"  (they use real cream and whip it fresh every morning)  It wold be so easy to give in, however, I am no longer happy being the size that I am, and I want to lose that next pound, more than I want that luscious treat.  and I have to keep wanting it.

Every 20 lbs lost, I am going to reward myself with some new clothes.  I'm shopping around, I'm looking at catalogs, I'm making my wish lists.  But I'm not shopping till I reach the 20 lbs increment.  (and let me tell you, I need some new clothes)

I work again tomorrow, but will be taking my usual walk in the evening.  and I'm going to work on a better Sunday/Monday routine for future weeks.

Re: Balance
Shoes cant' wait, I NEED walking shoes, and other dressier shoes for being on my feet all day at work, I'm going Wed or Thurs for shoes.

and maybe, if I am close enough to staying on target, at the end of the summer, I'll treat myself to one of those cream puffs.

Re: Balance
I like the New Balance and the Avia walking shoes.  Avia is cheaper.

Re: Balance
One thing my little town does have, is the best shoe store in 50 miles.  and the main store is only 25 miles away.  They shoe all the athletes from UW and all the local high schools.  I"m going to go in and let a sales person bring me all kinds of walking shoes, they are awesome there, they wait on you hand and foot (oh yeah, feet!  thats what they do)  I just hope they have them in extra wide widths  LOL
