If I'm not posting some mysterious, cryptic shit, I am OVER EXPLAINING EVERYTHING.
No middle ground for me!
To continue on with the over-explanation, today I will blog about . . . well. "Why Mindsay?"
When I was 14 and discovering livejournal and diaryland (or whatever) and xanga I had decided I really, really, really, really, (REALLYREALLYREALLY) wanted a deadjournal. I was a little emogoth who worshiped Amy Lee, OF COURSE I needed a deadjournal.
However, I was also poor and without a credit card, and I couldn't pay for a deadjournal. I did not, under any circumstance, want a free livejournal. So I did a search for something like "free blogging sites" or whatever. Since I could not have my deadjournal, I wanted a site that was more unique, that I hadn't really heard anyone mention. Mindsay was one of the first results, so I signed up on February 4, 2004 (missing my chance to be part of the '03 crowd by a month and a week!!!).
I liked our little livejournal clone thing we had going on. I remember when the <lj-cut> tags worked for our entries. I was shy at first but eventually ventured myself out into the community . . .with the help of my friends. I dragged 3 people on here with me initially (tl365, Magen's original blog; esaeler, Jen; and o0erica0o, Erica) and over the years this grew to me bringing terriberrie, Terri; juztztef, Stephanie; butterflykitten, Mastro; and Jamie. The Infamous Jamie. We're not discussing this). Jen and I both brought over Ashleigh (mcrtheused) and Magen brought over 3 or 4 people of her own. I was first though, I just want to make sure everyone is clear. ;)
Anyway, once I was comfortable with my small circle of irl friends, I ventured out into the Mindsay community. I was part of the reason Crazy 40 was amazing, no motherfucking lies. (Confession! The first month or so I blogged here, I thought Crazy 40 was the user name of a blogger! And one of the C40 entries was "I'm leaving this place!" and I'm like "of course, I get here and this super popular blogger leaves as soon as I sign up!") I am completely honest in saying that many, many of the people I met here and connected with changed my life in some way . . . and some in every way.
I wrote this entry (and it was voted top blog thanks to you bitches<3) last year about the differences between the present Mindsay and the past Mindsay. I think it still holds true.
So the question changes slightly. "Why still Mindsay?"
Because I'm sentimental as shit, that's why, and can't fucking let anything go.
(haha) But also, because this is my little home and I will rep it till I die ;)
I also like how secluded we are on the internet. I have always liked this. I do not allow non-Mindsay members to read my blog. I have, in the past (there's no reason for it now really), taken full advantage of the "block user" page. When fitting, I take FULL advantage of the categories I place my network in when posting an entry.
I mean, there are plenty of sites on the web where I can whore myself out, I do not need to do it here. That's not what Mindsay is about.
I wish I could feel silly about how excited I am to see some of you guys posting again because of this reunion tour (some of you? all of you, actually). I don't feel silly about it at all. I am genuinely happy you guys have come back. I know that most of you have only come back for a week, which saddens me a bit. I wish you'd stay.
But if you ever decide to drop back in . . . I'll still be here :] Promise.
