Like I said, my grandparents came with us - and my grandmother, as pretty much every year, bought me a heart shaped box of chocolates. She`s so sweet. :) Laura Second brand, which is different, but listen to this...
They ain't just chocolate. They're MINT CHOCOLATE. :D They taste just like the ice cream flavour! :) They're so succulent and heavenly!

Well, anyway, I went to that second dinner I was talking about earlier. It was really delicious, and the atmosphere was really cozy - despite it being Chinese and Japanese themed. It was really beautiful, and had a wide selection of foods.

Although, I went absolutely crazy on the chocolate-dipped strawberries - I decided to be risky and try some Sushi. ...That had no raw fish in it. Does it still count as Sushi, then?
I don't remember what it was called. "Cucumber Roll" or something like that. Part of me was thinking why I even dared to stick a piece of Sushi on my plate... But I placed it in my mouth, anyway.

I was expecting it to be terrible. But it really wasn`t. It was good, but a little bit bland. One of those "Meh, it's okay" foods.

Anybody have stories about trying new foods out? How did it go? Did you like it, or dislike it?
Tell me some stories. :)

Re: My buffet experience.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time!  You have more guts than I, cause I haven't yet tried sushi, although they say that it is not all raw. And yes, cooked sushi is still sushi, apparently.  But those strawberries sound yummy!

I know I have eaten lamb's brains in Jerusalem one time, but can't rightly remember the taste...but I know they were nice, cause I didn't spit them out or anything.
Mom and Dad said that when they were home missionaries in South Dakota, that they were invited to eat with the Sioux people, and were sure they had dog...apparently it is slimy...but they just didn't make a scene of asking what it was...just prayed and ate...::::

We ate at a Japanese place, here in Ogden a month or so ago, with our pastor and his wife, and it was the grossest stuff all of us have ever eaten. I was the only lucky one, cause I ordered curry, which wasn't great but not bad either.  They said they only had enough for one, which was strange in the first place, since it was on the menu....but I don't think they get a lot of customers....pastor's wife had cold buckwheat noodles...she didn't know they were going to be cold, and some deep fried something or other, that she said wasn't too bad...and my pastor and husband had a mixed bowl with all kinds of mysterious things...one bit looked like snot..and we found out that it was rice noodles...pieces of tofu, noodles...at least the soup was warm....and grated beef, kinda like the powder that comes off of jerky when it is cut...my husband is not one to complain, and ate it all, but have talked about it for ages after....the pastor and wife went and got carryout food on the way home...
