Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

Yesterday, it was somewhat painful to watch the Houston Rockets' 22 win streak get snapped by the Boston Celtics. I guess the Celtics are number 1 in the NBA for a reason.

Tonight, the Houston Rockets got stung pretty badly by the New Orleans Hornets, causing them to take Houston's place in the #1 spot in the Western Conference. I didn't watch the game though, I just read about it in the Houston Rockets' website.

But that's ok. I still love my Rockets! I'm still happy, for as long as they are doing a lot better than San Antonio and Dallas in the Western Conference standings (which is somewhat rare, against the Spurs). I guess I just don't like the fact that the loss against the Hornets brought Houston back down to #3, placing them right under the Los Angeles Lakers at #2...

That run was pretty incredible. I was hoping they'd go and break the NBA record. But I didn't think they would lose to Boston like that. And then New Orleans tore them to pieces. Hopefully, they can bounce back from that. They'll need to do so quickly because the Western Conference is more competitive this year than it has ever been.

I agree. But I can't say that the Eastern Conference wont be as competitive. I can honestly say that Boston impressed me, like Detroit did in the championship against the Spurs.

Well, I meant competitive as far as maintaining a playoff position in the Western Conference. There are so many lead changes for playoff position in the West because it's such an incredibly close race this year. Think about it. Denver is probably going to win about 50 games this year but might not even make the playoffs. That's how strong competition is in the West.

LOL, you're kinda starting to sound like my co-workers when it comes to the Western Conference.  They schooled me big time about how good the Western Conference was this year.  That is true though, the way you mentioned Denver winning that many games and still not make it into the playoffs.

Who are you rooting for this year?  I'll pick any of the three teams in the Texas Triangle (yes, including Dallas).  But if all else fails, N.O. will do.

Definitely New Orleans, Boston, Cleveland, and Orlando. Yeah, I think those are the four teams that I like the most this year. Especially, New Orleans. They surprised me this year. Chris Paul is a freaking awesome point guard.

Yes they are. I am firmly behind Cleveland after Deshawn Stevenson talked all that shit about Lebron and the Cavaliers. James made'em pay in that first game. I hope he crushes them in the next 3 games like an insignificant litlle bug. I hope he hangs 40 on all their scrawny little necks in each game. It's like Charles Barkley said. The Wizards have got to be the dumbest team on the planet for runnin' their mouth.

I'm also pulling for New Orleans. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing history being made if the Lakers and Celtics meet up in the NBA Finals again.

Are you as surprised about Philadelphia's Game 1 win over Detroit as I am?

LOL!
New Orleans, man...  You're right about Chris Paul.  I have to watch that guy's career!

I also haven't been keeping up with the playoffs when the Rockets lost...  But if I did, I should also focus on the East...  I still somewhat keep up with the West.

There are still plenty of games left. The Rockets had two tough games back to back. Not many teams would win either of those games. They just got a little run down.

Look at the Spurs. Four losses in a row.

The playoffs are gonna be very exciting this year.

True!  It is still early.  And at one point, I was in the mentality that it was too early for the streak, but it seems like the timing is just about right.

I'm thinking about doing some "sports blogging / trash talking" all over again. heh
