Hello my dear andreux. Doot here - I'm just downsizing and wanted to invite you to my home school blog where I'll be blogging exclusively from now on.
you are friends with myclette. we have posted amicably on a few blogs together. i think i would like to be added to your exclusive club of friends.
Mycki, that saucy ham! Why, she is number one in my books, and virtually any friend of hers is a friend of mine. By the way, I would not call it an "exclusive club". That makes me sound uppity & pretentious, both of which I am not =) I will be more than happy to add you if you can return the favour..? Oh, and please, no expectations; I am very boring! lol
P.S. You & your baby look adorable in the picture!

hello
I'm fed up being curious about what you write so I'm asking to be added as a friend.
I hope you write about the right kind of books . . .

Sadly, I do not read as much as I should! That does not mean, however, that literature does not fascinate me. In fact, my reading choice du jour typically consists of doctrines, treatises, etc. I have a thing for philosophy rather than creative writing, but it is good every now & then to escape the harsh realities of the world!
How funny that I should be mentioning philosophy again. I was discussing the matter with another MindSayer within the past twenty-four hours or so. I bet my reading bug is itching at me lately or something =)
No need for curiosity, by the way! I am honestly a pretty boring guy, but I would not mind adding another friend if I could ask a favour..? Would you mind returning the courtesy? =)

Done
Some philosophical treatises are quite interesting; I happen to have been reading a lot of Aquinas and Augustine recently. I do a lot of textbook reading, too, but unfortunately my friends on MindSay are not exactly the type to enjoy that sort of thing most of the time. Philosophy is interesting! What types? I believe that creative writing is not the only thing one should be reading, anyway--one should try to keep a flexible mind about the way we process information.

I am more of a classical philosophy guy here =) Augustine is excellent! It has been a while since I have read him, but from what I remember, I only really agreed to one of his deals on social moral code. I cannot deny, however, how simply good of a philosopher he was. That, and the fact that he is much older lays a slight bias on me
I always find that the ones who laid the groundwork for future paths are the true heroes in any discipline. I really need to quit thinking that way 'cause sometimes I look like an idiot blindly arguing that, oh, Plato is just the plain out big cheese of 'em all, lol -- plus, I hardly tend to give guys like Kant a chance.
Textbook reading though, wow! That is also pretty impressive. Sorry that you do not have many with whom to relate around here regarding that though. By the way, adding you now =)

Why, thanks
It is not a bad thing that not too many people think about medieval architecture and textiles like I do . . . I don't think . . . altho if you give Sandyquill any space, she probably knows a bit about everything. I wouldn't put it past her to have her finger in nuclear physics
I don't agree very much with Augustine and I believe he messed with Christian doctrine to a point that it became nearly unrecognisable, and some of it still is today to people who try to compare the Bible to Augustine. Pretty sad. Aquinas is more of a revolutionary, trying to get down to science and referring to Aristotle more than he does Augustine, which is quite a step! Plato is fun, but strange
And I'm utterly unschooled when it comes to moderns. Even early moderns . . . Any recommendations on that front?

I am so bad, I preach his ontological proof all the time [blush]. I really like him 'cause of his logic that he spews forth. I am kinda mathematical, so the fact that he developed Cartesian geometry always excited me about him when reading his philosophical stuff =) Plus, how can you go wrong with "I think, therefore I am"?! Ha -- now I am just being facetious =)
(see what I mean though? Blind adoration! lol)

So you are a Christian? Historically, religion, physics, math, and philosophy were all connected in education, which makes sense because I think people who have logical minds like that often tend to gravitate towards subject in which logic is a main factor. Blind adoration, on the other hand . . .
I'll keep him in mind. One of my dear friends (the drunknphilosophr) teaches philosophy and is brilliant at explaining things to me.
My sister tells me there is a book by Terry Pratchett (sci-fi/fantasy) which parodies Descartes when the heroes enter a world in which things they think up are true and exist: like the monster at the back of the clothes dryer that feeds on socks . . . Cracked me up. I need to find out which one that is and read it.

Actually, I am not a Christian. At least, I should say that I do not venture that far. I like to consider myself personally a deist. I do have to admit though that I truly admire what virtuous Christians do for the greater community these days.
Oh man, your sister's book sounds hilarious =)

No, not missing anything at all here with my blog =) I am quite the boring person, in all honesty lol
regarding my second question, should I take that as a "no"? Ahh, but you warned me not to get my hopes up.
Oh, it is not a "no". In fact, if you would like to be added, then would you mind returning the favour? =) Thanks
It was my birthday, and frankly, my face was shoved into the cake =( My sisters thought it was hilarious though. It sucks being the only boy!
That makes sense. I think too much about the order of siblings after I read an article in Time magazine. Really interesting stuff. Anyway, I did the same thing to my sister (older, only daughter).
How many brothers do you have? In addition to being the only boy, I am also the oldest. Wonder if that says anything about eldest gender-unique children. We get all sorts of interesting treatment, if you ask me. Plus, we are really pressured to be the best since, well, we are the only ones of our kind in the family =)
I have an older sister (about a year older) and a younger brother (~8 years younger). Yeah, apparently the eldest children tend to have slightly higher I.Q.s (having responsibility over siblings), more successful jobs (I think it was 2/3s of Congress are of eldest children?), but also usually gain weight more easily. Youngest children are said to have more artistic or entertaining jobs (like comedians/comediennes) and have a sense of agreeableness (more flexible to change and demand).
Middle children can be alienated and random at times. That's how I feel mostly.
But I'm sure there are effects of gender. There's a saying that goes:
1)The oldest child is usually spoiled.
2)The youngest child is usually spoiled.
3)And the only girl/boy is usually spoiled.
My sister is 1 and 3. My brother is 2. And I fit in none of these categories; it really does work out in my family.

Well, over the last few years I've been a bit fed up with the special treatment my brother gets. What father buys a motorcycle for a 10 year-old?
And my sister has a high horse with her responsibility. And she cuts deals with my dad. She's going to give me her used up, trashed around truck because my dad's going to help her buy a new one.
But people just can tell I don't fit in with my family. After boarding school, I don't get a room; I get the den.

Wow! Wish I got a motorcycle at that age lol
& I would not be complaining about this truck! A free vehicle is awesome, but I can understand what you mean about this responsibility thing. I tend to be that way with my sisters, and I think it drives them up the wall too =(
On behalf of all the eldest children of the world, I say to you: sorry =(

Well, the truck has been through a lot, on account of my sister's irresponsible side.
Not the best side to be. And not the truck it used to be.
But I guess there are some pro's to being the younger kid.
Lack of responsibility? Not sure. :S
I really feel like getting a tattoo. Yesterday my friend called and we decided by the end of the summer, we'll be tattooed. I'm really interested in this traditional Yupik design on the center of my back.
And I feel like eating my baby food.
Really, it's pretty good.
By the by, how's your summer?

My summer is hot so far. Beginning at the end of next week, however, my summer is about to get quite busy. I will be moving, and then in July I will be heading off on vacation. Then August rolls around, and it is my birthday, so goodness knows what kind of shenanigans will take place during August.
Otherwise, I will just be working because I am dull like that.

I understand.
Well, not at all, really, but I understand that must probably take a lot of effort. Similarly, I will be taking a job with the Department of Fish and Game mid-June through this ANSEP program I'm in. Honestly, it's been really boring lately, but this dorm-life is so much better than Edgecumbe dorm-life.
After my job (and my first major paychecks
) we'll come back to Anchorage mid-July and take Calculus classes until August.
I might enjoy/hate this summer, but then there's always college.
